Official Launch of OFSC Interactive Trail Guide & Go Snowmobiling Ontario App

December 1st marks the official launch of the OFSC Interactive Trail Guide and Go Snowmobiling Ontario App and you will notice it looks different than it has in the past. We’d like to take this time to remind you about an extensive initiative that has been in progress throughout the Spring, Summer, and Fall and will continue throughout the winter.

In the spring, OFSC Club volunteers started work on the most significant trail data project in the history of our Federation. This initiative utilizes precise GPS data collected during our grooming activities to realign our digital trail footprint. Given the vast size of our network, our volunteers have had a notably busy offseason with work continuing as we prepare for the arrival of winter.  More details on this project can be found here: OFSC 57th OFSC AGM & Convention Kicks Off New Season – Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs

Today, the trail network looks different than it has in the past but rest assured, Clubs continue to work on finalizing their networks and you can expect to see trails positively evolving in real-time as land use permissions are updated throughout the season. Behind the scenes, our network is actually larger than it appears – stretches of trail from intersection to intersection may be 99% complete, missing only a single landowner’s permission. Once that permission or a reroute is secured, we will add those sections and KMs back on the public facing ITG.

“The commitment and dedication of our volunteers cannot be overstated. Their tireless efforts this off-season is nothing short of heroic”, said Ryan Eickmeier – OFSC CEO. “I would also be remiss to not mention the thousands of landowners, communities, and organizations who have graciously allowed use of their land. Our work is far from done, so please reach out to your local club to see how you can help.”

This ambitious project benefits from the involvement of numerous passionate individuals who selflessly devote their time and energy, ensuring that snowmobiling remains a cherished activity for enthusiasts across Ontario. Together, they are the backbone of our community, working hand in hand with generous landowners to preserve and enhance the trails for generations to come.

Please join us in extending our heartfelt gratitude to each volunteer for their unwavering resolve and contribution to the future of our snowmobile trails for all of us to enjoy!
